Mohamed Mounir is an Egyptian actor and singer, born in a village in Aswan Governorate in 1951. He moved with his family to Cairo after the Nubian villages were submerged by Lake Nasser, created by the Aswan High Dam. Mounir graduated from the Faculty of Applied Arts at Helwan University. He was discovered by the renowned communist activist Zaki Murad, who introduced him to the poet Abdel Rahim Mansour.
